Our terms & conditions

Last Updated: March 2026

Welcome to AF Dance NZ. By enrolling in our classes, purchasing passes, or attending our studio, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please review them carefully.

1. THE AGREEMENT

This agreement is between AF Dance NZ and any individual (the "Member") participating in our services. By engaging with our school, you agree to abide by these terms and any future updates.

2. COMMUNICATION & ACCOUNTS

Members are responsible for maintaining accurate contact and billing information. Important updates regarding schedules, fees, or policy changes will be sent via email or posted on our official social media channels. Please ensure our emails are marked as "safe" to avoid missing critical information.

3. PAYMENTS & FEES

  • Pre-payment: All services, including group classes, private lessons, and workshops, must be paid for in advance.

  • Weekly Memberships: Fees are processed weekly via direct debit. It is the Member’s responsibility to ensure sufficient funds are available.

  • Failed Payments: If a payment fails, we will notify you. Access to classes will be suspended if the account remains in arrears for more than 5 days. A $10 administration fee may apply to cover the costs of managing failed debits.

  • Price Adjustments: AF Dance NZ reserves the right to review and increase fees. Members will be given 14 days' notice of any changes and may cancel within that period if they do not accept the new rates.

4. MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION

We provide flexibility for our members while maintaining the stability of our studio:

  • Minimum Term: All weekly memberships have a 3-month minimum commitment.

  • Standard Cancellation: After the initial 3 months, you may cancel at any time by providing 7 days' written notice via email.

  • Early Termination: If you wish to cancel before your 3-month term ends, an Early Termination Fee of $150 or 25% of your remaining balance (whichever is lower) applies. Once this is processed, all future billings will cease.

  • Hardship: We may waive fees for documented medical incapacity or permanent relocation.

5. MEMBERSHIP HOLDS & CLOSURES

  • Member Holds: After your initial 3-month term, you may pause your membership for 2–8 weeks per calendar year. Requests require 7 days' notice, and your contract end-date will be extended by the duration of the hold.

  • Annual Shutdown: The studio closes for 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year. Weekly billing is automatically suspended during this period.

  • Public Holidays: The studio is closed on public holidays; fees are averaged across the year to account for these, so no credits or extensions are provided for single-day holidays.

6. PASSES

  • Concession Cards: Valid for 2 months from the date of purchase. Unused classes expire and are non-refundable.

7. STUDIO SAFETY & CONDUCT

  • Health & Risk: Dance is a physical activity involving inherent risk. Members are responsible for seeking medical advice before participating and must inform instructors of any injuries or health concerns.

  • Late Arrival: To prevent injury, students arriving more than 10 minutes late may be refused entry to the class.

  • Behavior: We reserve the right to refuse entry or terminate membership for unsafe behavior, harassment, property damage, or attending while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.

  • Solicitation: The promotion of external businesses or competing dance classes within our studio without written approval is prohibited.

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & MEDIA

  • Choreography: Routines taught at AF Dance NZ are the intellectual property of the school and may not be taught elsewhere or used for commercial purposes without permission.

  • Photography: We may film or photograph classes for promotional use. By participating, you consent to the use of your image. To opt-out, please email info@afdance.co.nz.

9. GOVERNING LAW

These terms do not limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
